THERESA HADDOCK - Gospel Singer and Songwriter

Theresa is a life-long resident of the beautiful Mississippi River Valley area of western Tennessee. Being raised in the heart of the Bible belt and the daughter of a minister, her roots are deeply embedded in the gospel music that she loves and sings so well.

At the early age of three Theresa began singing in church. Theresa was so small it was necessary that she stand in a chair to be seen and be able to reach the microphone. At other times she would stand on the piano bench as she sang with her Mom playing the piano. Sunday afternoons were frequently spent listening to the albums of The Statesmen, The Speer Family, Black Brothers Quartet and other major groups of the era to find a new song to sing. Since she could not read at that time she would have to memorize the words and practice till she knew them "by heart". Her Dad would never let her sing a song until she could demonstrate that she knew the material and was ready.

During her teen years she was on program several times at a long-running annual singing in Dyersburg, Tennessee, "The Blue Cap Gospel Singing" and sang on program with several professional groups. Throughout the years she has sung on the same stage as The Happy Goodmans, The Song Masters, the original Hinsons, Dixie Echoes, Charles Johnson & The Revivers, Aaron Wilburn, Ronnie Hinson and others.

Theresa began to write around the age of seventeen. Her very first song titled "Touching With The Gospel" was inspired by a message her Dad preached on a Sunday morning. She has continued to write through the years with songs being birthed from messages she’s heard, her own personal experiences of both trial and triumph and the influence of many faithful saints of God she has been blessed to have known.

Throughout her life Theresa has always used her voice only to uplift Jesus. She does perform in auditoriums, but she is most at home in a church setting, which is where she has ministered most of her life. Theresa does not consider herself a preacher, but feels she is a minister in song and will incorporate scripture and testimony in her ministering. She does not consider herself to be an entertainer, but an encourager.

Singing a variety of different styles of song although mostly with soundtrack, Theresa can accompany herself on keyboard and therefore is not limited to a planned program but can feel out what God is leading and anointing her to do in a service. She may lead the congregation in a time of praise and worship choruses or have them join her on an old-time Gospel campmeeting style song or beloved hymn. Theresa’s ministry is ultimately to see sinners saved. But, she realizes for the most part, the people that make up audiences that she will sing to already have a relationship with Jesus Christ. She wants to encourage those who are despondent. She has a message that failure isn’t final with the Father. For someone who may be struggling with life’s situations and is on the brink of giving up, she wants them to know they have hope in Christ and that if they will look inside they will find they have the faith and strength in Him to carry on. For the one who is searching for God’s will for their life, she wants them to know it is His will that they not perish but have everlasting life. Theresa conveys the message that sometimes life is hard, but God is always good. She has lived through some difficult personal times in recent years and can testify that God is faithful! Her father instilled in her a great sense of appreciation for God’s love and grace, an attitude of gratitude and a sense of pride and patriotism for America.

In 2001 Theresa realized a dream when she went into the studio to record her first project, "Look What The Lord Has Done". In 2005 her second CD was released titled "Meet Me In Heaven". Theresa wrote every song on each of these projects and these projects have received rave reviews. Her music is played nationwide as well as on foreign radio. She has had several songs chart in the US Gospel News.

Theresa lives in Finley, Tennessee. She works as the Administrative Assistant for the District Attorney General for Dyer and Lake Counties, a position she has held for fourteen years. Theresa is active in the music ministry of her local church and sings regularly for nursing homes, assisted living facilities and benefits in the West Tennessee area.
